How do we prevent complications of Uremia?

First, active treatment. If the renal functions of uremic patients cannot be reversed, the patients should receive dialysis. Dialysis therapy includes oral, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis (artificial kidney). Oral dialysis is only suitable for light uremia patients. Middle or late stage patients often have peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis.  Dialysis is still one of the effective treatment methods in treating late-stage Uremia.

Second, adequate rest. Uremic patients should have adequate rest and good nutrition. Do not participate in heavy exertional or strenuous activities.

Third, avoid harmful chemicals to the kidney. The patients should avoid contact, either on the skin or through inhalation of chemicals that contain cadmium, chloroform, ethylene glycol and tetrachloroethylene. They are generally found in pesticides, vehicle exhaust, paint, household cleanser, etc.

Fourth, limit foods rich in cadmium. It is found that in some ordinary household items, there are certain chemical elements associated with Acute and Chronic Kidney Disease. As long as the patients can read the descriptions carefully, and take some preventive measures, they will be able to avoid these harmful substances.

Fifth, limit foods rich in cadmium, such as halibut, mussels, scallops, oysters and unsanitary vegetables.

Sixth, low-protein diet. Uremic patients should have low-protein diet. The normal people have 1-1.5g of protein per kilogram of body weight while uremic patients can only have less than 0.5 g per kilogram of body weight in order to reduce nitrogen generation and retention.

  Seventh, no smoking.

The prevention of uremia is very critical and uremia patients should cooperate with the doctors.

Notes:
In the daily life, Uremia patients should prevent complications actively. In this way, the treatment can be more effective. Then how to prevent complications of Uremia?
