Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is one of the most common medical illneses. Although hypertesion is prevalent in adults over the age of forty, it is becoming a more common disease in the younger population, which may be attributed to a combination of genetics, poor diet, and lack of regular exercise. In addition, increase of stress in our daily lives is also felt to be a contributing factor in some people who develop high blood pressure.

Changes in our lifestyle have been show to help control or sometimes eliminate high blood pressure, bu these lifestyle changes take both time and effort to make a significant difference.  Some of these lifestyle changes include changing our diet to a stricter low salt and sodium and lower saturated fat diet, decreasing our alcohol and caffeine intake, and starting a program of regular exercise and weight reduction.  Research has indicated that entertainment can help lower your high blood pressure.  Regular entertainment does not necessarily mean regular physical aerobic activities, but any form of regular enjoyable activites that help lower a persons stress level.  These may include various activities such as watching movies, sewing, stitching, gardening, reading, writing,  playing board games, or just socializing with friends on a regular basis.  Practically any activity that may be of interest to you can be your form of entertainment and relaxation.

When you are enjoying yourself from the entertainment, your brain is typically exposed to brainwaves of a lower frequency. Your body receives impulses or signals for your blood vessels to relax and dilate and thus lower the blood pressure. This lower frequency of  brainwaves also stimulate your autonomic nervous system that has an indirect impact on lowering high blood pressure.

Regular entertainment is one of the natural ways of lowering high blood pressure as well as other related illnesses that produces no side effects. If you are suffering from high blood pressure, entertainment as one form of your treatment  may prove to be very effective and beneficial.
