About 2/3 of kidney cysts occur in people over 50 years old. They often are discovered when having the routine physical examination. Most kidney cysts will not cause any symptoms until they get bigger than 5 cm.

　　The growth and enlargement of renal cysts are the results of both internal and external factors.
